Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Eastvale public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
FY 2026-27 budget and five-year CIP adoption
The plan commits the city to 38 projects over five years — road overlays, signal synchronization, ADA improvements, the Hellman Avenue widening near Rondo Elementary, and the civic center and future Great Park. The commission found it consistent with the General Plan; the City Council makes the final call.
Measure A extension without sunset
In his regional report, Lorimore said RCTC voted to extend the half-cent Measure A sales tax indefinitely with no sunset — putting it on the November ballot. He was the only commissioner to vote against it, citing the lack of an end date.
FY 2026-27 budget and reserves
The draft budget shows healthy revenues over operating costs, a $31.3 million surplus, and big reserve draws for the civic center and police station. Finance staff explained how the Gann spending limit works and flagged future operating costs of new buildings as a coming challenge. Adoption is set for June 24.
Delinquent trash bills on the tax roll
Trash rates are going up 4% plus an extra $0.33 per home — residential bills rise from $36.22 to $37.99 monthly. Councilmember Rigby flagged concern that the 'extraordinary' adjustment clause could be invoked annually for the remaining contract term.
Illegal short-term rental enforcement (SB 346)
Even though short-term rentals are banned in Eastvale, some operate anyway. The new ordinance forces booking platforms to report listings, giving the city tools to collect transient occupancy tax and enforce the ban.
